Boldenone Undecylenate
Boldenone Undecylenate (most commonly sold under the brand name Equipoise) is an injectable synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid that differs from pure testosterone by only a single chemical bond. It is not approved for human medical use and was originally developed exclusively for veterinary medicine (primarily for treating debilitated horses). In the bodybuilding community, however, it is illegally abused to build muscle mass and enhance performance. Boldenone possesses strong anabolic and mild androgenic properties.
Effects of Boldenone on Muscle Growth, Why is it Abused in Bodybuilding?
Boldenone (Equipoise) is utilized in illegal bodybuilding for muscle growth due to its role in stimulating protein synthesis and nitrogen retention in cells. Unlike substances such as Testosterone Enanthate or Oxymetholone, boldenone is reported to build muscle mass more slowly and without significant water retention. This increased protein synthesis is intended to accelerate the repair and growth of muscle cells.
The substance is known to stimulate a significant increase in appetite, which aids in high-calorie consumption. It also stimulates the production of erythropoietin (EPO) in the kidneys, which increases red blood cell count to enhance muscle oxygenation and endurance. Because of the long undecylenate ester, the effects are not immediate and typically manifest after several weeks. While users may seek a fuller or more vascular appearance, such effects are often a direct result of dangerous blood thickening (polycythemia), which increases the risk of cardiovascular events.
Primary Purpose of Boldenone:
Boldenone Undecylenate was originally developed as a veterinary medication, specifically for the treatment of horses and cattle. Its intended use was to assist animals in recovering from exhaustion, regenerating muscle mass following illness, and increasing appetite and metabolic efficiency.
